IRELAND—Day 1–The Kerry Way
A N D BETTER!!
Today…. today. . . . what a wonderful beginning to an experience for which I’m really not capable of offering a compelling description. I have not the words ready at my fingers to transport you to this island of wildly beautiful people and music and food and history and countryside.
. . . Please accept my humble attempt (pretend you’re reading a chapter of Lord of the Rings that didn’t make it to the big screen ☺️).
It's late-22:15- everyone is asleep except dodo me. I should be! BUT we hiked a whopping 15 miles today and I have no choice but to write.. to tell someone.. anyone about the wonder…. so I write.
We thought we read 13 miles, but Black Valley Lodge was a bit farther than we ….thought. Hey, (3) 60+ yo women and a 19 or so youngin earned their blisters and sore knees and hips today! But . . we made it! Here are some photos of our adventure through the Irish shire…
Not terribly flattering, but.. you can see blue sky,
4 smiles, 3 grey heads a one 19 or so youngin
☺️
Flowers, like faeries, always, always distracting my eyes from forward focus and my feet from the trail !
A few sneak shots of my compatriots…
And because it’s way past a tired old woman’s bedtime… you get an album of sorts for today’s Irish nibble..
I would LOVE to comment and tell sweet stories, but not tonight. I have a bit of frustration formatting the blog. Tonight -toooo much time invested in that fruitless endeavor. After a good salmon and egg Irish breakfast at 8, I’ll want to take a nap, then have my second breakfast, then elevensies…. and that plan will not work well for making 17km (approximately 😏) tomorrow with sore toesies.
God bless.
Good night
